2024 IABCA IMMERSION WEEK IN AUSTRALIA

The India-Australia Business and Community Alliance has steadily engaged in cultural diplomacy and bilateral growth through people, organisations, and businesses since 2013.

In 2023 IABCA celebrated a decade of sustained engagement by establishing its international footprint through its inaugural IABCA India Showcase in tandem with G20 creating an immersive cultural dialogue between allies which was welcomed by both governments.

In 2024 IABCA will continue to unlock the potential for bi-lateral trade between our two nations through a 12 month campaign and a series of week long initiatives held in the presence of key government and international leaders.

IABCA continues to provide a strong platform for strengthening business-to-business ties through honouring our people-to-people links.

In 2024, IABCA will return to Queensland in partnership with Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ), under the leadership of Justin McGowan.

IABCA Alumni and Finalists and the Indo Australian Chamber of Commerce will be hosted by TIQ. This partnership highlights the robust economic and institutional linkages, people-to-people ties, and a shared vision for a stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that underpin the Queensland-India relationship.

The Indian diaspora in Queensland has grown to over 90,000, making it the third largest Indian community in Australia and the second-largest non-European diaspora in the state. Despite the strong institutional and people-to-people connections, there is still more to be done to foster partnerships. The Queensland-India Trade and Investment Strategy 2023-2027 (read here) builds upon and complements the Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy 2022-2032, (read here) providing a framework for enhanced engagement.

His Excellency Philip Green OAM, High Commissioner of Australia to India
